Mahmutlar, Alanya

 

Mahmutlar center is 12 km to Alanya city center, 28 km to Gazi Pasha Airport and 140 km to Antalya.

It is surrounded by the Taurus Mountains to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. The length of the beaches is about 5 km. Mahmutlar is located along the sea between Kestel in the west and Kargijak in the east.

Mahmutlar is almost independent of Alanya and is growing rapidly. Here’s everything you need for a permanent stay and comfortable rest: chain stores, clothing boutiques, furniture stores, home goods, pharmacies, post offices, bank branches and ATMs, car and scooters rental offices, Beauty salons, gyms and so on.

The transport system is well established in all parts of Mahmutlar, buses run every 5 minutes, the number of bus stops increases every year. There are many cafes, restaurants, pastry shops. The local farmers’ market  is open twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

There are several public schools and kindergartens in Mahmutlar where foreign children can attend.

At a distance of 3 km from the center of Mahmutlar, there is a protected forest area, which is the so-called “lung” of the city. There are special areas for barbecues and picnics with wonderful views of the entire city.

The list of historical attractions includes the ruins of the ancient cities of Laertes, Naula, Siedra. Excavations are still ongoing here, but the city administration has promised to rebuild the ruins into complete ancient cities within the next few years.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Considering the density of foreigners in different regions of Turkey, the Ministry of Interior has published a list of prohibited areas in order to protect the population dispersion of foreigners living in different neighborhoods. From July 1, 2022 onwards, foreigners will not be able to receive short-term residence through renting nor buying a house in these neighborhoods. Therefore, if you intend to receive a short-term stay by renting or purchasing an apartment, be sure to check the neighborhood of your desired city and then take action.

Unfortunately, Mahmutlar is one of the neighborhoods in Alanya in which you CANNOT apply for turkish residence permit.
